Musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause - from joint pain to osteoporosis
We know that oestrogen receptors are present throughout the musculoskeletal system, yet surprisingly little is understood about how the absence of oestrogen impacts musculoskeletal health. We will explore the concept of the 'musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause,' examining the relationship between menopause and joint pain, the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, and how menopause and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) influence other musculoskeletal conditions."
Learning outcome: To understand better the relationship between oestrogen and musculoskeletal health and the role of HRT.
