Safe use of digital technologies in GP practice
The growing role of digital technologies in the delivery of healthcare promises many benefits. However, to ensure patient safety - and that the professional responsibilities of clinicians are met - the introduction and embedding of new technologies must be carefully risk managed. Consideration should be given to how services are introduced, and how they interface with alternative modes of delivery which might be necessary to accommodate patients who are unable or unwilling to access digital services.
Informed by MDDUS case experience, this session explores strategies which can be used to mitigate risk associated with systems such as digital triage, online management of chronic conditions, asynchronous patient advice, and use of digital scribes/AI in patient consultations.
