Neil Modha

GP Partner, Thistlemoor Medical Centre
Dr Neil Modha is managing partner at Thistlemoor Medical Centre in Peterborough, caring for 30,000 patients from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICS’s most challenged background. 80% of the patient speak other languages and many work in zero hour contracts prioritising their work over their health. During his time the Practice has grown from caring for 8,000 patients. Dr Neil Modha is also a GP Trainer. The Practice has a team of 26 Healthcare assistants who have been trained up to support this diverse population from the local community. He is co-clinical director of his Primary Care Network and has led work with Health and Wellbeing coaches, First contact practitioners and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. He has worked at accountable officer level for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning group and now is the clinical lead of the GP Federation as well as Co-chairing the Place Based Care Board – ‘The Northern Alliance’. A key part of this work during the pandemic has been working collaboratively across the system to try to ensure patients continue to get a service in outpatients and with diagnostics during the various lockdowns. This work was awarded the HSJ value award of the year. Dr Neil Modha led a workstream on data, population health management and health inequalities in the Fuller Stocktake and enjoys contributing to both policy formation but also by evolving the way that services look after patients.
